The Best Troop Compositions TH5 to TH11

Find The Best Troop Composition For YOU

There are dozens of different attacking compositions out there at your disposal – and most of them have dozens of variations. If you’re not sure what attacking composition to use, it is probably because you are lost in the jungle when you search online. Each composition, especially on YouTube, claims to be the best and guarantee to get you everything. The truth is, you need to know what different attacking compositions will help you achieve your goals. Only then can you find one that fits and start using different variations of it until you have the one that fulfills what you’re after. That’s what I want to show you in this post to help you make more out of your attacks – you’ll never get what you want if you use the wrong tools (troops).

Different Troop Compositions, Different Purposes

If you search for “the best attacking composition” online you’ll be lost. Simply because there isn’t THE BEST, there are lots out there that work for their individual purpose. Before you go out and start trying new compositions, you should define, for yourself, a clear goal to accomplish.
Healing Spell versus Inferno Tower
If you start trying out new attacking styles, you will quickly recognize that it takes time and resources to get proficient. My rough rule of thumb is that you need 10 attacks to get the basics, 100 to be confident in using it and 500 to be perfect using it. You see how trying them out is like a walk in the dessert? If you’re willing to try a new troop composition, you should use one that will help towards your goal instead of wasting your time and resources on a style that you will not use long term.

What Do You Want To Do With The Troop Composition

First of all, you need to define what you want to do with the new attacking style. Do you want to farm all kinds of resources? Do you want to farm Gold or Dark Elixir? Do you want to Trophy Push? Do you need a better troop composition for Clan Wars? How many daily attacks do you want to make?
You see there’s a lot you need to know about your own goals. In this post I want to show you the general attacking styles in an overview and how the basic version works. Most importantly, I want to show which style is perfect to do specific things.
To prevent confusion – of course you can use an attacking composition that will reward lots of Trophies while also farming resources because the League Bonus will  add a lot of loot. BUT if you’re just looking for resources you should use an attacking style that is cheaper while still yielding lots of loot. Keep in mind, if you’re able to do many daily attacks, you’ll want a quickly trained army so you can perform as many as possible.

Town Hall 5 Troop Compositions

If you’re TH5 I can recommend 2 attacking strategies. One is for Farming and one is for Trophy Pushing and, more important, Clan Wars.

TH 5 Farming Troop Composition

If you farm you need a quick and cheap army and don’t need to pay attention to the League Bonus. You’ll be able to find bases stuffed with loot so the League Bonus is nothing that will make the profit margin change. Simply train Archers and Barbarians, 50/50, and use the very popular BARCH (Barbarian + ARCHer) composition.

Town Hall 5 Clan War & Trophy Push Army Composition
Trophy Pushing should only be performed for one single purpose if you’re Town Hall 5 – getting the Achievement Gems for the additional Builder. However I can assume you’re also participating in Clan Wars with your Clan, so you need to have the skill and composition to get 3 Stars there as well. I recommend you use Giants with Wall Breakers and Archers. You can also add Wizards or Barbarians, but that’s only a personal taste.
Stay away from Balloons! They are very weak and expensive/slow to train. Balloons are only useful if they are maxed out, so focus on the Giants and upgrade them as often as possible. They will be your 3 Star Combo for quite a few Town Hall Levels!

Town Hall 6 Troop Compositions

There’s not that much changed between TH5 and TH6. If you farm, you should still use the BARCH setup.
For Trophy Pushing and Clan War attacks you now have the ability to include Healers. At this point it doesn’t make a big difference if you do Giant Raids with or without Healers. The above video shows that it’s possible with or without. However, I would reccomend adding Healers because this will be a troop composition you can use for the next 2 Town Hall Levels. Perfecting this skill at TH6 will help you later in the game.
This video also shows you great ways to include Spells in your attacks.

Town Hall 7 Troop Compositions

TH7 increases the number of possible troop compositions and also introduces more complex bases. Don’t get confused, the classics are working great in 2016.

TH7 Farming Troops

The everlasting BARCH works best for farming. It’s cheap and very fast to train.
Attention! If you’re able to do lots of attacks you might want to add Minions and use BAM (Barbarians + Archer + Minions). You can train your army faster, but it will cost you Dark Elixir. If you do lots of attacks, you’ll make up for it; otherwise stick with BARCH!

TH7 Trophy Pushing & Clan War Troop Compositions

The almighty Dragon is here. I remember when I was a fresh Town Hall 7 and trained Dragons right away. In my defense, that was the time when Jorge Yao made the Leaderboards with mass Dragon attacks and dominated for months. There are three reasons I don’t recommend you to use mass Dragon attacks at TH7, not even for Clan War:
  • Low Level Dragons suck, they really do
  • They are so slow to train and cost a small fortune each time
  • Without enough Spells they are not very efficient
Also stay away from the Balloons! They are still not upgraded enough to be a good attacking style.
Giant + Healer is still the best composition to use. I know they are getting lame after using for months now but, they are still the fastest and cheapest way to 3-Star bases. Learn as much as you can about troop pathing, Trap prediction and handling different troops AI. That’s the knowledge you’ll need later in the game.

Town Hall 8 Troop Compositions

The everlasting BARCH works best for farming. It’s cheap and very fast to train.
Attention! If you’re able to do lots of attacks you might want to add Minions and use BAM (Barbarians + Archer + Minions). You can train your army faster, but it will cost you Dark Elixir. If you do lots of attacks, you’ll make up for it; otherwise stick with BARCH!

TH8 Trophy Pushing & Clan War Attacking Troop Compositions

You have 2 very strong attacking compositions you can use:

Town Hall 9 Troop Compositions

I recommend using this farming technique here (Goblin Knife):

TH9 Clan War and Trophy Pushing Troop Compositions

If you want to 3-Star other TH9 Bases in Clan War or in Trophy Pushing, you can either use Hog Rider, Dragons, LavaLoonian or GoWiWi/GoWiPe.
If your Heroes are not upgraded very much (Level 10 or lower), you should focus on Hog Rider or mass Dragon attacks. The others requires Heroes Level 20 to work best.

Town Hall 10 & Town Hall 11 Troop Compositions

Farming with BARCH is not really working at TH10 anymore. You can do it and still get loot, but you will have to do A LOT of nexting until you find a base with outside Storages & Collectors with substantial loot.
There are two strategies you can use, depending if you’re farming Dark Elixir or Gold/Elixir on TH10/TH11.
Farming Dark Elixir works best with Goblins, Giants & Jump Spell:
Farming regular resources works great using Balloons. I have done it for a month now and get 300-400k each time with an army prep time of about 90 minutes! It’s not the best way to farm Dark Elixir, because you have to invest some for the Minions. In the end you will make a profit in Dark Elixir, however, the above strategy makes you more Dark Elixir (but less Gold & Elixir)

Clan War / Trophy Pushing Troop Compositions for TH10 and TH11

You can only use LavaLoonion or Bowler/Miner compositions, they’re the only strategies strong enough to push Trophies or gain serious War Stars for your Clan:

Conclusion

You see there are literally tons of different attacking strategies, but once you define your goal, there’s only a handful that will serve you best. Know what your building before you pick the tools. The videos I linked are very good basic guides, but once you get deeper into the specific attacking compositions, you’ll see there are lots of variations.  Youtube is a great resource to further explore these options. Hope this helps you on your way to success in Clash of Clans

The 4 Best Defending Clan Castle Troops in Clash of Clans

Guide: Perfect Clan Castle troops for defending

defending clan castle troops 2015 clash of clans

What defending Troop should you request for your Clan Castle? I had an argument yesterday with a clan mate about which troops are working for defense or which are not. He was requesting “Defensive Clan Castle Troops” and we’ve been discussing for ages what troop fits that description. This is the reason I wrote (and updated) this guide.

I want to make a guide about the advantages of different troops in your Clan Castle for defending. Maybe you will try out some new troops that will keep watch over your village while you’re away.

Clan Castle on defense?

In case you’re wondering what I mean, I want to explain the concept behind having defensive troops in the Clan Castle.
Let’s say it’s 11PM and I have 6 hours of shield left. I know that I will not do another attack for the day and I will not be awake when my shield (don’t forget to add the Village Guard) expires.
shield in clash of clans
In this case, I will request defensive troops in my Clan Castle that will help defend my village because I know that I will get attacked before logging back into the game.
The Poison Spell
The worst enemy of your defending Clan Castle Troops is the Poison Spell. It is able to kill almost all Troops within it’s area and:
  • it deals constant area damage (unlike the Lightning Spell that could miss).
  • deals even more damage to troops than the Lightning Spell, especially when it’s at max level.
The only positive part (from the defensive perspective) is, that your troops will leave the radius as soon as possible when they are not actively attacking other troops – this makes the “lure-and-kill-with-poison” a lot less possible.
What’s important for us at the end of the day is what kind of troops are able to survive the new Poison Spell, because I believe every attacker will have and use one Poison Spell on your Clan Castle Troops.
These Troops don’t stand a chance against any Poison Spell:
archer goblin wb minion witchbarbarian

These troops get killed very fast by a Poison Spell. It’s simply not worth having them inside your Clan Castle for defense. poison spell changes march 2016
Even in the short period when they walk through the range of the Poison Spell, the spell effect will charge up so heavy on them that they will die.
This means, we can now take a look at the other troops, the troops that are able to survive a Poison Spell (some of them only in a higher Level):
dragon wizardpekka val golem lava giant balloonhogbaby-dragon-iconminer-iconbowler-icon
We can group them up into tanks and damage dealers.
The damage dealer will deal a lot of DPS and, if the attacker doesn’t address them the right way, he will see a part of his army wiped away.
The tanks, however, are binding and delaying the attackers troops and hold them while your defenses deal damage.
Not all of them make good defensive Clan Castle troops, so here are my thoughts on each one of them. This is just an initial thought about the troop, not the final recommendation. I have listed the best troops below, depending on the Town Hall you’re in.
Now the troops in general:
  • Wizards are kind of useful with their splash damage.
  • Dragons are good because they deal good damage and are sometimes hard to kill.
  • PEKKA are useless. Very slow and also their hits are so slow that they are easily killed before they can deal any real damage.
  • Valkyries are useful against larger groups of ground troops.
  • Golem is great to stop troops and deals extra damage when it dies and spawns the Golemites.
  • Lava Hound is a nice stopper and distraction.
  • Giants are ok, but not the real tanks for defense because they get killed too fast.
  • Balloons are great, especially when an attacker has only ground troops.
  • Hog Riders are pretty useless because their hitpoints are not high enough.
  • Baby Dragons are nice because enraged they can deal the same damage as a normal Dragon for half the housing space. Only useful when it’s the only air troop in the Clan Castle.
  • Miners are useless. Not much damage and also not a lot of hitpoints.
  • Bowlers are only good against Witches (that almost nobody uses today). otherwise not much damage and also not a lot of hitpoints.

What Troops Make Your Defensive Clan Castle Good?

Before we take a look at the specific Town Hall levels, I want to point out that there is not “the one and only” defensive Clan Castle troop in the game. There are many things to consider and it depends on these 4 things:
  • Town Hall – because each Town Hall region has different attacking styles.
  • League – in higher Leagues you will get hit by higher Town Halls more often, that means you need to adjust to their attacking strategies.
  • Base Layout – some attacking styles prefer certain base layouts. E.G. If your Air Defenses are in the core, it’s less likely you get attacked by air attacks, so you should not focus on defensive troops against air attacks.
  • What’s effective right now – there are always roughly 5 very common attacking styles. These make up 80% of all attacks and these are the ones you need to think about.
You see, it’s not that easy at all! The good news is, you don’t have to dig through tons of charts. The easiest method to know what you need to defend against is to take a look at your defense log.

defending loot from mines and collectors by breaking your shield
You will easily see what kind of setups attack you the most – these are the ones you will need to adjust to.
I know you might be thinking why I haven’t just written that down in the first place. The answer is, I wanted to show you how complex the system is.  There is no real answer to the question “What is the best defensive Clan Castle troop” in general. 🙂

Clan Castle Defense for Town Hall Level 7 and lower

With the current matchmaking algorithm you will primarily get matched against opponents with a similar Town Hall Level – in this case, being TH7 or lower, you’ll not see a lot of Poison Spells raining on your defending Clan Castle Troops.
Grouped Troops for Lightning Spell
I assume your defense log shows 3 different kinds of attacks – Giant/Healer, Dragons or BARCH.
You now have to decide. I would not recommend specifically preparing for Dragon attacks – they don’t happen often enough compared to the total number of attacks your village receives. These troops are working good for defense:
  • Valkyries
  • Dragon
  • Wizards
Clan Castle Defense for TH8 & TH9 When you request your defending Clan Castle Troops, always try to have troops that will give the Poison Spell a hard time and are able to defend. The variety of attacking compositions is changing, so please take a look at your defense log to see what attacking composition seems to like your base a lot.
In general you will see combinations with tanking troops and damage dealing troops behind, so you should focus on getting the tanks down with fast troops. Troops that work good for that are:
  • Baby Dragon
  • Wizards
  • Balloons (only of you don’t see a lot of air attacks)

Clan Castle Defending Troops for TH10+

Defensive concept is switching a lot when you reach Town Hall 10. The attacking styles are heavy and the Heroes will also give defending troops a hard time.
Combinations like defending Wizards or Valkyries will get blasted in seconds while a Poison Spell is making them attack slower.

There are actually 3 kind of troops that are nice for defending:
  • Baby Dragon
  • Golem (my favorite choice)
  • Lava Hound
The best thing you can do is try to make the attack slower – and a tanking troop is the best way to do this. The Lava Hound will release the Lava Pups and the Golem will release the Golemites – all distractions for attacking troops.
I personally love the Golem, especially with the Bowler and Miner attacks these days, because it deals up to 550 damage when it dies and the Golemites are spawning. That’s the damage of a double Giant Bomb and all the surrounding troops will feel it!
anti miner clan castle troops
The Baby Dragon is great because he enrages himself and deals the damage fast enough to get some shots in – when the attacker is not prepared he will not have sufficient air damage to get the Baby Dragon down.

Conclusion

Defending troops are essential and make the difference between successful defenses and failed defenses. I personally don’t see defending troops a lot in multiplayer battles, but since I started to always care about that I have some when my shield is about to expire. This has resulted in way better defensive results. Just a simple request and you’re done! 🙂

Having a sit still lab is more regrettable than having a sit out of gear developer. You generally need to ensure you have enough elixir (or after your BK is maxed DE) to keep it taking a shot at something. TH8 is the principal level where the aggregate time to finish the updates in the lab is substantially longer than that of having four mortars working always to finish the redesigns on your town’s structures.

Clash of Clans - TH7 to TH10 Farming Base Designs for 2017

Town Hall 7 Farming Base for 2017

Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 War Base 2017
Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 War Base 2017
This Town Hall 7 base is the ultimate for protecting resources in Clash of Clans. First off, the gold and elixir storages are a world apart from each other, so your attacker basically has the three star you to get it all. Also this farming layout separates your DE storage and drill, something key to keeping your dark elixir. Having compartments within the base makes it difficult for any strategy to really dominate because all the defenses are spread apart.

Town Hall 8 Farming Base for 2017

Clash of Clans Town Hall 8 War Base 2017
Clash of Clans Town Hall 8 War Base 2017
As far as Town Hall 8 farming bases go, the triple compartment is very popular, but that is because it WORKS. Your gold storages, elixir storages,, wizard towers, and air defenses are separated into three different compartments, making it tough for anyone to dominate with barch or dragons. Since the DE storage is towards the top half, it is heavy trapped to stop attacks starting from that side. Centralized clan castle means that it will activate anytime troops breach one of the compartments.

Town Hall 9 Farming Base for 2017

Clash of Clans Town Hall 9 War Base 2017
Clash of Clans Town Hall 9 War Base 2017
This TH9 farming base has long been one of my favorites and with a few tweaks it is ready to go for Clash of Clans in 2017. The DE storage is heavily protected from the bottom of the base with x-bows reaching it. The storages are located on the outside of the base, trying to lure an attack from one of the corners. This way, you only lose 2 storages instead of 4-6. The teslas are on the outside protecting mines in case you are away for a period of time.

Town Hall 10 Farming Base for 2017

Clash of Clans Town Hall 10 War Base 2017
Clash of Clans Town Hall 10 War Base 2017
I love this TH10 base because it protects the core so well. It is very unlikely you will be two starred at all by any farming army compositions. The great thing about this base is that there is not one storage close to another one. The DE is well protected in the center while the gold and elixir storages circle the outside. In a broad attack against one side of this farming base, the attacker will take 3 storages at the most.
So that is all the Clash of Clans farming bases we have for 2017! I hope that these bases will help you protect your loot as much as possible as we transition to this new year. Thanks for reading and make sure to pop back in later for more Clash of Clans content!

Clash of Clans – TH7 to TH10 War Base Designs for 2017

Town Hall 7 War Base for 2017

coc war base design th7
coc war base design th7 anti dragon
This Town Hall 7 war base layout has what every war base should have at TH7: centralized air defense! The air defense within this base are very difficult to get to, which will make it hard to beat using dragons, the most popular strategy at Town Hall 7. Having small compartments will make sure that the dragons go around the base inside of heading towards the center. The whole goal here is just to prevent the three crown so that a TH8 has to waste an attack three starring.

Town Hall 8 War Base for 2017

coc war base design th8
new th8 war base design
The most popular strategy at TH8 is, and almost always has been, hogs with heal spells. In order to beat this strategy, you are going to need a base layout that features double giant bombs, something that even the most powerful heal spells can’t bring hogs back to life from. The bottom of this base design is baited: all clues point to starting your attack from the bottom, which means that the hogs will hit the DGB almost immediately, ending the attack before it has started!

Town Hall 9 War Base for 2017

coc war base design th9

This TH9 base is a slight variation of one of the earlier bases I have posted. In this version, the base is much better protected against the ever popular LavaLoonion attack, along with a built in central defense against spam bowlers and witches. Double giant bombs will guard your Town Hall and hopefully prevent you from being three starred in 2017!

Town Hall 10 War Base for 2017

clash of clans best war base design th 10
new th10 war base designs
Bait bases have become my favorite type of base and this Town Hall 10 base fulfills this requirement! On the outside compartments, spring traps lurking will take out any giants or bowlers that attempt to penetrate the core. A ring of defenses around the TH, heroes, and clan castle will make it very difficult to reach the Town Hall, especially with inferno surrounding it. This base is great against almost any strategy: just be careful against a full LavaLoonion attack from the bottom left!
That’s all the bases we have today for war in 2017! I hope that you guys can use these new base layouts to their full effectiveness, regardless if you TH7 or TH10 in Clash of Clans.

Clash of Clans Best Rusher's Guide

The guide will be split into 3 parts.

Myth Buster - Debunk all the popular myth people keep blabbing on about related to rushing TH in this forum

FAQ - Most asked questions about rushing TH.

Walkthrough - Complete guide on how to rush properly.

Choosing whether or not to rush your TH is a personal choice and you are free to play how you want DO NOT come in this thread and advise people to not rush TH.

Here are the pros and cons of rushing TH. Some of the pros and cons will be explained further in the different sections of the guide.

Pros
- Farm faster so you will be able to gain the max amount of resources in the shortest period of time spend playing
- 3 star opponents who have spent much longer than you developing their base.
- Donate stronger troops and be more of an asset to your clan.
- Better builder and resource management with more resource dump and cheap/faster upgrades along side expensive/slower upgrades.

Cons
- Negative stigma for rushed bases by the general clash of clans player pool who doesn't understand how the game works. Your friends or clan mates might make fun of you until you show them what you can do.
- It bothers some players that a lower TH level can destroy their base. (Only a con if you care about this).

Myth Buster

1. Can't defend your loot
I lost average 40k of each a day rushing, see link in the original thread for details. The amount of loot loss is so small and shouldn't affect your progress. Even if you lose the max amount you will be able to raid it back in 1 or 2 raids. If you can't save up loot for big upgrades means you're doing it wrong and read through the walk through for details. Remember, you only go on defense once every 12hrs or when you intentionally break shield but can attack many many more times in the same time period.

2. Loot penalty will hurt
Loot penalty exists for attacking lower TH but there's no reason to attack lower TH. TH10 needs to attack TH8 about as much as TH8 needs to attack TH6. Higher TH has more loot and higher league has bigger bonus. The only thing that stops you from farming higher TH at higher league is your offensive power to get the loot and maintain trophies with an efficient farming army.

3. Rushed TH causes clan war mismatches
I don't know how this one came about but TH level has nothing to do with clan wars match making. Read the FAQ in the clan war section for details. Higher TH exclusive defense structures like xbow and inferno towers carry much bigger weight in match making. You do not have to build those structures when you reach higher TH. See the walk through for more details. As long as you can 3 star your own base, you will be an asset to your clan in wars.

4. My base will be 3 starred in clan wars and hurt my clan's chances of winning
It's true that your base will be 3 starred but same goes for any non rushed bases that spent the same amount of time in development. Any competent attacker will at least 2 stars their equal so best case scenario of non rushed base is you save 1 star for your team or waste a higher TH attack from opposing clan. Trade off is that you will gain 6 stars from much stronger bases so from a min/max point of view it's a huge advantage to rush

5. Need to be extremely active and 100s of attacks per season to be a successful rusher
You only need to attack about 3 times in between log offs to show a profit. If you can't do that clash of clans isn't for you, whether you max or not. You do not need to raid much to keep your lab going none stop which is the only thing improving your offense after the initial upgrades, most can be saved up before you hit new TH level. You need to net about 100k elixirs or less a day to keep lab going none stop, collectors will do the rest. Therefore, you do not need to be highly active to experience the benefit of rushing as long as you can gain enough elixir before your lab finishes. Of course, you will progress faster by being more active, this is true whether you rush or not. Even if you hardly raid TH10 has more collectors and better defense so you can even collect resources faster without raiding by rushing to TH10.

6. Rushing is risky, if you screw up your account is totally screwed with no way to recover
It's impossible to screw up your account so much in clash of clans that the only way to continue is starting a new account. If you rushed TH without maxing farming troops, stop upgrading TH and work on farming troops. You got enough gold to upgrade the TH so now just work the same magic except for elixir and upgrade your troops. See Faq for details.

Faq

1. Am I ready to go to the next TH?
You're ready to go to the next TH if your farming troops and 1 3 star war army combination is maxed. Walls, defenses and hero levels is not a factor. It's recommended to work on walls and heroes at TH10 because you can farm all 3 resources at the same time with higher efficiency. We don't raid with walls or defenses. You can gain way more loot than you can lose as long as you raid in sessions. We don't sit round with max storages every time we log off and people can't take what's not in your storages.

2. What farming compositions do you use?
Barch.

3. How to farm Dark Elixir?
Upgrade to TH10 and barch in master's league and you will have more DE than you know what to do with. There's no need to specifically target DE if your intention is to rush to TH10. See walk through for more details.

4. What army to use in clan wars?
TH2-6 hogs in CC with healer or just barch with healers(you will only spend about 2 weeks here).
TH7-8 dragloon
TH9-TH10 lavaloonion

5. What league to farm in?
TH8 and under silver league. TH9 gold3-gold2. TH10 masters 3 and up. See walk through for details.

6. What is the difference between a premmie and a rusher?
Premmie is someone who upgrade their TH prematurely without understanding how this game works. They often have poor attacking skills and is likely the cause of negative stigma towards rushed bases. Rusher is someone who upgrade their TH with knowledge of the game and looking for the most efficient way to progress.

7. How can I tell the difference between a premmie and a rusher when I meet one in game?
Look at the player's offensive abilities. If the player has maxed spell factory, clan castle, spell factory, army camps or has a builder working on them while the lab is busy and has a farming troop combination maxed from previous TH, they are a rusher. If your clan is recruiting for war, rusher will have at least 1 3 star troop combination maxed from the previous TH level. Any player who doesn't fit this profile is likely to be a premmie.

8. How do I recover if I rushed too fast?
In the event that you did not follow the guide and upgrade TH without maxing farming troops do not panic. You manage to save up enough gold to upgrade your TH now think about how you did this. If you farmed great, do more farming except for elixir to upgrade your troops. If you gemmed, unfortunately, you're going to have to spend little bit more money. Do whatever it takes to get archers to lv5. Even at TH10 with lv5 archers, you will be able to farm 100k elixir a day hitting dead bases and snipping THs to upgrade archers to lv6 in 10 days assuming that you have maxed elixir collectors. Put all your gold into upgrading your elixir collectors and walls. Patience in this game is key if you don't want to spend real money so be patient while your troops and collectors upgrade. Collectors are extremely cheap upgrades and you will be able to keep them upgrading with just the gold from your mines.

9. Should I worry about my walls while rushing? (Credit to Sservis)
To the extent that you cannot productively use elixir on village improvements, it is a waste of time to focus on walls before TH9. For example, at TH8, 225 skulls means farming 112.5 million gold, and wasting almost all of the elixir. At TH9, 225 skulls means farming 112.5 million gold and converting about half of the 225 walls to lego for "free" with the elixir that would have been wasted at TH8. A similar point applies at all lower TH versus TH9 with a lower return in free legos. Walls should be upgraded when you have gold to dump, but wait until TH9 or later to farm for walls. If you are rushing to TH10, you can farm for walls in TH9, but don't wait on walls, upgrade when the important parameters (farming/war offenses) are ready.

Walk Through

Forward- very important for new players
So you decided to rush? please note that there are different degrees of rushing. It's not required that you upgrade your TH soon as you meet the bare minimum requirement. Your attacking skill must match your base progression to gain all the advantages of rushing. Otherwise, you can quickly become the much hated premmie. I will point out the best places to stop and let your skill catch up throughout the guide.

General upgrade order at any TH
Spell Factory, Clan Castle, Lab > Army Camps > Heroes > Barracks/Dark Barracks > Collectors > Defense

General Pointers
- Keep TH outside of the base without traps around it
- Don't even bother rearming your traps as you just lose more loot
- Don't worry about base design until you're at a stopping point. I had no base design until TH9.
- Do not break shield unless you can raid at least 3 times.

The early part of the game

This refers to TH1-6. Just keep upgrading TH none stop and keep upgrading your gold storages so you can gold enough gold for next TH upgrade. Before TH6 farm with all barbarians instead of barch is more efficient. Make sure your lab is going none stop upgrading barch. This is because at TH7 you unlock the 4th and final barracks. Your farming efficiency will be much higher when you can train your army with 4 barracks. DO NOT worry about base design as you will be rushing through this part really fast.
Clan wars only
upgrade one barracks to max at each TH level so you can get dragons at TH7 ASAP.

Town Hall 7 - Stopping Point Alert

TH7 is when efficient farming starts with the addition of the 4th and final barracks. This is a good place to stop and catch up on lab upgrades if you rushed a bit too fast on the earlier THs. Maxing out spells, barch is highly recommended but you will not be screwed if you choose to rush on. Farm in silver 3 to silver 1 and do not worry about trophies. If you can drop 40 troops take out the collectors and lose cups do it. Do not bother snipping THs unless you really need the cups. Do not worry about the barbarian king or upgrading him. Farming DE at TH7 is very very inefficient and you will get enough DE to get the barbarian king later easily. It's recommended that you upgrade all your barracks when you have extra loot and no need to farm fast.
Clan wars only
Upgrade one of your barracks ASAP to get dragons. Dragons are extremely powerful at TH7. 10 level 1 dragons can easily 3 star any TH7 with 3 lightning spells. Drop lightning spells on one air defense and drop your dragons near the other one almost guarantees a 3 star. Practice using other troops, like balloons with your dragon army to reduce the cost and gain valuable attacking experience. DO NOT upgrade your dragons since they become useless after TH8 and we're going to rush straight past TH8. Maxing out balloons is highly recommended for clan wars as they will become the default attacking strategy at later THs.

Town Hall 8

TH8 is a very weak TH in terms of offensive gain. You gain no additional army camp space, no additional spells or heroes. Upgrade your barch, rage spell while your builders work on storages, CC and move on. You can start the TH upgrade soon as your level 5 archers are done. The 10 days it takes up the TH to upgrade will allow you to max balloons and barbarians. Make sure your DE storage can hold at least 40k DE before your TH finishes upgrading to TH9, you will not have spare elixir to upgrade it as a new TH9. Staying longer a TH8 to max out spells is ok but not necessary.
Clan Wars only
You will mostly be attacking with ballonion or dragloons. Level 1 dragon and Level 5 balloons with max balloons in the CC is capable of 3 starring most mid TH8s. Since we're going to rush right past this strategy you don't need to worry about attacking advanced TH8s. Max out a dark barracks so you can have access to lava hound soon after hitting TH9.

Town Hall 9 -Stopping Point Alert

TH9 gains huge amount of offensive power and army composition availability from TH8. You gain 20 extra army camp space, bigger CC, archer queen and many max troops. This is a great place to stay and practice different troop combinations and strategies. Upgrades start to become expensive and slower so it's more important that you plan your upgrades. Highly recommended to finish TH upgrade with max elixir and 5mil gold and 40k DE for the archer queen.
Building order is
Gold: CC - > dump all your gold into walls
Elixir: SF, Lab -> camps, dark barracks(cw) -> DE drill

Notice that there's no xbow in the build order for early TH9. This is because defenses are useless to protect your loot, especially if you rushed from previous TH. Reloading xbows cost elixir and you can't waste elixir or valuable builder time on xbows. Keep your TH outside of your base without traps. You will not be a desirable target as you only have elixir and no gold so it's less likely someone will attack you before your TH gets snipped. If you get raided don't worry just raid it back. This is the best TH to stop rushing at if you are a new player. It was enjoyable for me to practice all the 3 star attacking strategies at TH9 such as holo/golo/gohowiwi with my first account.
Clan war only
DO NOT BUILD xbows until you have unlocked lava hound.
Highly recommended to upgrade balloons first over barch. Level6 balloons has a huge boost and soon as you have balloons upgrades you will be able to 3 star maxed TH8 and early TH9 even with level 1 minions. Upgrade a dark barracks none stop to unlock lava hound. Once lava hound is unlocked, even at level1, you will be able to 3 star maxed defense TH9 with favorable lavaloon layout. From there upgrade your lava hound hogs, golems, witches, wiz to practice the various group attacks available. Pekka is not impressive as it does not gain any new levels at TH9. Minimum recommended troops to rush to TH10 if you're in a warring clan is lava hound, balloons and barch. Highly recommended to master all the ground based 3 star strategy if it's your first account.

Town Hall 10
The final stretch, recommended farming range crystal 2 - crystal 1 for new TH10, Masters 3 + with level 7 troops. Loot is amazing in the master's league, I average 400k of each gold/elixir and 2.5k DE per army. Farming is very different at TH10 as you can only raid TH9s and TH10s, there's a significant drop of full collectors inactive bases available to you so a big portion of your loot will come from the league bonus.

New TH10 should farm in crystal 2 to crystal 1 league with barch but the inactives are gone. DO NOT listen to anyone that tells you to raid storages. While if you had max troops you can raid storages with both heroes and spells but it's highly inefficient and doesn't produce much elixir profit. Your main focus as an early TH10 is to get your offense up which means it takes significant amount of elixir. This means you need to farm league bonus. I would train up barch and with 1/3 of the army finished I would start nexting for TH to snip. Each snip nets me 50k-65k elixir while army is training. If I find a collector base I will take it and lose cups. If no collectors base found in 20min I return to base, get full army and search for elixir storages to raid. This way you will next away lots of gold but gain lots of elixir. I was averaging 1mil elixir/hr unboosted. First lab upgrade should be a dark troop, lava hound or minions depends on if you war or not. DO NOT build inferno towers or new defenses. Not only are they useless in defending your loot, they will upset match making if you do clan wars.

Once you have level 7 archers, farming in the master league will yield about the same amount of gold/elixir as TH9 but 3 times more DE without even trying. I constantly have maxed DE storage with both heroes upgrading none stop. This when you will see the true power of rushing when you work on heroes and walls at the same time instead of raiding for DE or walls specifically. You can farm in the master's league as TH9 with barch and both heroes but that defeats the purpose of all this extra DE.
Clan wars
Only build inferno towers once you have maxed lava hound and can comfortably 3 star your own base without heroes.
